About the 2020 vehicle tax payment period and postponement system of the Vehicle tax (divided by type)  must be paid once a year by anyone who owns a vehicle.  In mid-May the car owner receives an envelope with the Tax Payment Notice (Nozei Tsuchi-sho) and other documents.

The amount must be paid by June 1, 2020 (Monday).

Payment can be made at banks, post offices, convenience stores, supermarkets with multipurpose stations (MMS) and other establishments through Nozei Tsuchi-sho.  It is also possible to make payment via credit card (only available over the Internet) or via smartphone payments application (PayB or Mobile Register – モバイルレジ).

Postponement system in case it is difficult to pay the tax due to the coronavirus

Due to the coronavirus, if it is not possible to pay provincial taxes, postponement will be allowed within 1 year, in principle.

Consult your nearest Provincial Tax Office (Kenei Jimusho) for details on inquiries and how to request.

The seafood and clam collection season is coming, however, did you know that there are rules that must be respected?  Violating these rules can lead to fines, so collect seafood in accordance with these rules. For more details, click here.

Attention!

Due to the spreading of infection of the new coronavirus, this year there are many places that are banning or preventing the collection of shellfish and the use of beaches for leisure.  Some places have closed parking lots and rest places (umi no ie).

Please be aware not to enter these restricted areas.

Examples of locations with a seafood collection ban or restriction (as of April 23, 2020 information).

* There are other places that are also banning or restricting the collection of shellfish and the use of beaches for leisure.

* The ban period may change depending on some factors like the State of Emergency Declaration (Kinkyu Jitai Sengen)
