2025/06/05 Thursday Announcements, Security

In 2024, there were 62 accidents in mountainous areas in Mie Prefecture, involving 69 people, of whom 5 unfortunately lost their lives. To ensure everyone can enjoy hiking and climbing safely and enjoyably, we ask that you follow these three guidelines:

Guideline 1: “Plan a safe hike.”

  • Before climbing, check the weather forecast and choose a mountain suitable for your fitness level and experience.
  • Develop a climbing plan that includes rest breaks and doesn’t require excessive exertion.
  • Start your climb early to ensure you return before dark.
  • Consider hiking with others so you can help each other in case of trouble.

Guideline 2: “Prepare the necessary equipment.”

  • Mountain weather can change quickly, so bring appropriate gear for rain.
  • Bring a headlamp to ensure a safe descent even in the dark.
  • Prepare drinks and food for the journey.
  • In addition to your smartphone, bring a portable charger to stay connected in case of an emergency.

3rd guideline: “Send a trail log.”

  • In Japan, recording your trail is essential, as it serves as an important reference for search and rescue in case you get lost.
  • Apps like “Yamap” and “Compass” allow you to easily send this log.

Follow these three guidelines and enjoy your trail safely!
