Duration:April 2014~November 2014 Location:Various locations around Mie Some of July’s events are outlined below Isomon Festa in Nishiki Date: Sunday, July 13 Location:Near Taiki Mukaigahama Park Tropical Garden (〒519-2911 Mie-ken, Watari-gun, Taiki-cho, Nishiki 17-6) Admission:Free TEL: 0598-73-2681 Details:There will be a reenactment of the Asama Ceremony, during which prayers are offered for safety on the seas. Come eat “henbayaki” and take part in a ceremony to officially start beach season. There will be dance and musical performances, a swimming competition and food booths at the event. Shima’s Summer Festival Date and Time: Saturday, July 19, 16:00~21:30 Location: Shima City Commerce and Industry Association Hall and hall parking lot (〒517-0501 Mie-ken, Shima-shi, Ago-cho, Ugata 5012) Admission:Free TEL: 0599-44-0700 Details:This event features traditional dances of Shima’s townships, taiko drumming performances, theatrical performances, a ramune chugging contest, snack making and more. 50 businesses will be attending this event. Summer Yukata Rentals Date and Time: 8月3日(日) 10:00~16:00 Location: Suzuka Traditional Handicraft Center (〒510-0254 Mie-ken, Suzuka-shi, Jike 3 Chome 10-1) Suzuka International University (〒510-0298 Mie-ken, Suzuka-shi, Koriyama-cho 663-222) Fees: Fitting fee 1,000円/Rental fee 2,000円(for 1 day) TEL: 090-3302-6868(Reservations required) Details:Come to our workshop to be dressed in a yukata before going out to take part in summer festivals and the o-bon dance. We will also be explaining the modern method of dressing in a kimono. (Participants may bring their own yukatas, children and men also welcome!)
