Partners for the Umashi-Kuni-Okoshi Mie Initiative and other organizations will be showcasing various events and projects that they hold to foster regional development.
“Creating connections” is the key phrase and featured events will be ones that gather participants from within and outside the prefecture to interact and share ideas.

Isomon Festa in Nishiki
Date: Sunday, July 13
Location:Near Taiki Mukaigahama Park Tropical Garden

Details:There will be a reenactment of the Asama Ceremony, during which prayers are offered for safety on the seas. Come eat “henbayaki” and take part in a ceremony to officially start beach season. There will be dance and musical performances, a swimming competition and food booths at the event.
Shima’s Summer Festival

Details:This event features traditional dances of Shima’s townships, taiko drumming performances, theatrical performances, a ramune chugging contest, snack making and more. 50 businesses will be attending this event.
Summer Festival Workshops Featuring Activities by the Sea

Spend the day in Kimono! Summer Yukata Rentals

Details:Come to our workshop to be dressed in a yukata before going out to take part in summer festivals and the o-bon dance. We will also be explaining the modern method of dressing in a kimono. (Participants may bring their own yukatas, children and men also welcome!)
