(2017) Fireworks Festivals in Mie Prefecture

The fireworks (hanabi) are undoubtedly the largest tradition in summer. In several regions within Mie Prefecture fireworks festivals (hanabi taikai) will take place between July and August. What about enjoy fireworks in Mie?

Date: July 15, 2017 (Saturday)             7:20 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Dai 65-kai Ise Jingu Hounou Zenkoku Hanabi Taikai

Location: Riverbank of Miyagawa (near Watarai Bridge)

One of the “Three Great Fireworks Festivals in Japan”. It is a fireworks festival to raise the daily performance towards Ise’s night sky, the city of Gods, and for the hanabi masters, chosen in several regions, dedicate the fireworks.

*In case the event is not held due to weather conditions such as rain, typhoon, flooding, it will be rescheduled to September 9 (Saturday). In case of bad weather conditions on this day, the event will be rescheduled to the next day (September 10 – Sunday). Dai 66-kai Tsu Hanabi Taikai 2017

Location: Akogiura seashore in Tsu

Consecutive fireworks launched from ships are one of the great attractions! This fireworks festivals that is enjoyed by sitting on the beach sand and by feeling the smell of the tide is one of the great summer traditions of Tsu city, and it is beloved by local residents and people from neighbor cities.

Kuwana Suigou Hanabi Taikai

Location: Kuwana city

The display starts by the launch of thousand of star-shaped fireworks, and the ones called “sichuhanabi” and “niagara” showing all their beauty in the night sky. During the event, the size and the bang of “nishakuhanabi”, one of the largest in Tokai region, are a stunning display because it seems raindrops are falling on people’s head.

Nabarigawa Nouryou Hanabi Taikai

Location: Nabarigawa Shinmachi Kahan

About 4.500 fireworks will be launched to show Nabari city’s health. Have good summer memories of Nabari and enjoy the fireworks spreading its shining and sound through the night sky.

Summer Festa in Hisai

Location: Ground Self- Defense Force in Tsu city, Hisai camp

The location of fireworks launching is right in front of the bleachers and it is worthwhile to enjoy the fireworks full of beauty spreading through the sky. The 150 meters in length Niagara River fireworks and the huge star-shaped fireworks at the end are the main displays.

Kumano Hanabi Taikai

Location: Shichirimi plage

It is the largest street summer tradition in Kumano, where 10.000 fireworks are launched, with Yoshino- Kumano National Park’s Onigajo as a background and several illustrations are exhibited toward the open sea.

Yokkaichi Hanabi Taikai

Colorful fireworks paint vividly all the summer night sky. One of the attractions at Yokkaichi Hanabi Taikai are the memorial fireworks organized by citizens who want to send thank you messages for birthdays, wedding anniversaries, among others.
