2016/05/18 Wednesday Highlights, Security

愛犬の狂犬病予防接種について

kyokenbyo

In Japan, as of 1957, no case of dog rabies has been detected, but in many regions in the world the incidence of this disease is huge. When someone develops the disease, the most common symptoms are paralysis, mental confusion among others related to nervous system. The possibility of death due to this disease is almost 100% in humans and dogs. Every year, about 55.000 human deaths related to rabies are reported in the world.

To avoid the spreading of this disease in the country, Japan has determined by law the registration and vaccination of all pet dogs.

Every year, rabies vaccination period is taken between April and June. Rabies vaccination can be received during April in group vaccination, carried out by the government of each prefecture, or in a pet clinic. (In the case of pet clinics, the vaccination is available the whole year.)

Every year pet owners must follow standards established by the preventive vaccination law against rabies.

  1. Pet registration
  2. Rabies vaccination
  3. Attach the registration and vaccination card in the pet’s collar

* For more details, contact the help desk related to the matter, or at Mie-ken Kenko Fukushi-bu Shokuhin Anzen-ka Seikatsu Eisei- Dobustu Aigo-han (only in Japanese).

*Registration and vaccination must be covered by the pet owner.
