Description of the Exhibit:
The Mie Elephant (miezō) also known as Stegodon miensis, is the largest prehistoric mammal ever discovered in Japan. The Mie Elephant measures 8 meters in length and 4 meters in height. The Mie Elephant lived throughout the Japanese islands about 4.3 million to 3 million years ago. This is Japan’s first ever showcase of the complete reconstructed fossil skeleton of a Mie Elephant at MieMu. Explore the life of the Mie Elephant, its evolution and how it was discovered at MieMu!

*Those who wish to participate must receive a numbered ticket which will be available from 9:00am. Ticket availability is limited.
*Fossils cannot be taken home. They will be carefully stored at the facilities in the museum.
