Spring National Traffic Safety Campaign

「春の全国交通安全運動」を実施します

2022/03/29 Tuesday Announcements, Security

April is the month when classes and daycare for children begin.

If the warm weather continues, it may distract the attention of drivers and the number of accidents is expected to increase.

This campaign is to raise traffic safety awareness, follow traffic rules, and eliminate traffic accidents.

  1. Period

April 6 (Wednesday) to April 15 (Friday) 2022  10-day period

*April 10 (Sunday) is the “Day for Zero Traffic Deaths”

  1. Important points
    1. Ensuring the safety of pedestrians including children
  • Pedestrians must also follow the traffic rules, such as “watch the traffic lights” and “do not suddenly jump out on the road”.
  • When crossing a pedestrian lane, make sure that the car has stopped before crossing.
    1. Improving awareness of safe driving such as protection of pedestrians and eradication of drunk driving
  • Pedestrians are given priority when crossing the lane. The driver is obliged to slow down and/or stop in front of the lane.  Drive with respect and safety.
  • Never drive a car when you drink alcohol.
    1. Thorough compliance with bicycle traffic rules and ensuring safety
  • Bicycles also have their own traffic laws, just like cars. Follow traffic laws and ride safely.
  • Bicycles, in principle, must use the car lanes (with the exception of sidewalks).
  • When driving on the road, drive on the left side.
  • Pedestrians have priority on the sidewalk. When riding on the sidewalk, ride slowly towards the road.
  • Riding while drunk, riding in tandem or riding with other bicycles in parallel is prohibited.
  • When riding at night, don’t forget to turn on the lights. Children must always wear helmets
