The nature of weddings has greatly changed over time. In the past the bonding of two families was the central theme however more recently, couples have had more freedom to personalize their own wedding ceremonies.
This exhibition on the history of wedding ceremonies showcases items such as betrothal gifts, trousseaus (the bride’s outfit) and wedding food of the era when wedding ceremonies took place in homes to current wedding magazines and wedding registration papers.
Wedding dresses designed by the world-famous bridal designer Katsura Yumi and a collection of Uchikake bridal robes and Furisode (long-sleeved kimonos) will also be on display.

A wedding will be held in the MieMu Museum. The Governor Eikei Suzuki will officiate at the ceremony.
Registrations to attend the ceremony will be accepted on the day of the event only.
