(2019) Fireworks Festivals in Mie

The fireworks (hanabi) are undoubtedly the most famous highlights during summer. In several regions within Mie Prefecture fireworks festivals (hanabi taikai) will take place between July and September. How about enjoying the fireworks with various features in the area?

Dai 67-kai Ise Jingu Hounou Zenkoku Hanabi Taikai

Date: July 13, 2019 (Saturday) 7:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Location: Riverbank of Miyagawa (near Watarai Bridge)

One of the “Three Great Fireworks Festivals in Japan”. The hanabi masters selected from all over the country dedicates the fireworks to Ise’s night sky, the city of Gods.

Ooyodogion Matsuri to Hanabi Taikai

Date: July 20, 2019 (Saturday) 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (fireworks from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.)

Location: Near the fishing port of Oyodo in Taki-gun Meiwa-cho

It is a traditional festival that lasted more than 260 years and is crowded with many visitors every year. On the day of the festival, a spectacular fireworks festival will be held in the evening, raising the atmosphere of the festival.

Dai 64-kai Toba Minato Matsuri

Date: July 26, 2019 (Friday) 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (fireworks from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.)

Location: Near Toba Marine Terminal

A festival of fireworks overlooking the sea and the skies of Toba Bay.  Enjoy a fantastic landscape caused by the lights of the fireworks and cruise ships reflected in the sea waters.  There will also be stalls for food and drinks, etc., which will open late in the afternoon.

Dai 68-kai Tsu Hanabi Taikai 2019

Date: July 27, 2019 (Saturday) 7:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Location: Coast of Akogiura in Tsu

The consecutive fireworks launched from ships are one of the great attractions of this fireworks festival. Enjoying the fireworks while sitting on the beach sand and feeling the smell of the tide is one of the great summer traditions of Tsu city, it is beloved by local residents and people from neighboring cities.

Kuwana Suigou Hanabi Taikai

Date: July 27, 2019 (Saturday) 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Location: Shores of Ibigawa

The display starts by the launch of thousand of consecutive fireworks, and the ones called “suichuhanabi” and “niagara” showing all their beauty in the night sky. During the event, the size and the bang of “nishakuhanabi”, one of the largest in Tokai region, are a stunning display because it seems like raindrops are falling on people’s head.

Nabarigawa Noryo Hanabi Taikai

Date: July 27, 2019 (Saturday) 7:50 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Location: Shores of Nabarigawa Shinmachi and Kurokawa district

About 5,000 fireworks will be launched to send out the vigor of Nabari city. Have good Nabari summer memories and enjoy the fireworks spreading it’s sparkle and  sound throughout the night sky!

Hisai Hanabi Matsuri

Date: August 3, 2019 (Saturday) 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (fireworks from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.)

Location: Hisai garrison of the Self-Defense Land Forces in the city of Tsu

The location of the event is near the launch of the fireworks, which will be released to the skies along with musical presentation.  Do not miss the grand finale!

Dai 25-kai Ureshino Ookin Matsuri

Date: August 3, 2019 (Saturday) 5:00 p.m. to 9:10 p.m. (fireworks starts at 9:00 p.m. and lasts about 5 minutes)

 Location: Parking in front of Ureshino Ground

The Ookin Matsuri is held in Mie-ken Matsusaka-shi Ureshino-cho with the theme “Thank you, Ookin”, where families can have fun with mikoshi, bon odori, little zoo, etc.  The fireworks will be launched at the end of the event.

Kumano Oohanabi Taikai 2019

Date: August 17, 2019 (Friday) 7:10 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Location: Shichirimi Plage

It is the largest street summer tradition in Kumano, where 10.000 fireworks are launched, with Yoshino- Kumano National Park’s Onigajo as a background and several illustrations are exhibited toward the open sea.

Kameyama-shi Sekijuku Noryo Hanabi Taikai

Date: August 17, 2019 (Saturday) 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Location: Shores of Suzukagawa (West Seki Fire Department)

Do not miss the launch of 2,000 fireworks and its great variety!  Watching the fireworks and the scenery by the river and the mountains is a must see!  There will also be many shop stalls on site!

Dai 32-kai Yokkaichi Hanabi Taikai

Date: August 25, 2019 (Sunday) 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

With the industrial zone of the city as a background on the night scenery and launching of fireworks in 3 barges. The launch of fireworks with musical themes are also spectacular!

Suzuka Genki Hanabi Taikai 2019

Date: September 14, 2019 (Saturday) 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (fireworks starting at 7:30 p.m.)

Location: Beach and Shiroko Shinko Ryokuchi Park

Beginning with the continuous release of hanabis “isshakudama” (spherical type 30cm in diameter), about 4,000 fireworks will color the skies.  At the end will be a show, fireworks will be launched under the waters.
