In 2009, a total of 30,167 suicides were reported throughout Japan, 379 of which were in Mie Prefecture. The Mie Prefecture Suicide Prevention and Support Centre offers advice on how to prevent such tragedies and provides support to families that may be suffering from the loss of a loved one.
