Mie Prefecture has developed the “Mie Prefecture Food Provision System” (Mie-ken Shokuhin Teikyo System – 三重県食品提供システム), also known as “Mieru” (みえ～る), for food supply and easy communication between companies and food bank organizations.
The goal is to help people in need through food bank activities and reduce food waste. The prefecture is looking for companies and organizations to participate as suppliers and recipients of the food products.
Food bank activities refers to the non-profit activities by providing food that would otherwise be discarded to people in need.
