The exam will be held in 20 languages from July 1, 2024
The Mie Prefectural Driver’s License Center (Mieken Unten Menkyo Center – 三重県運転免許センター) conducts driver’s license academic examinations in foreign languages.
From July 1, 2024, the theory test can be taken in 20 languages.
Persons wishing to take the test in a foreign language must indicate at the registration desk when completing the procedures.
From July 1, 2024, theory exams will be available in the following languages.
English, Chinese, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Spanish, Farsi, Korean, Russian, Thai, Tagalog, Indonesian, Khmer, Nepali, Myanmar, Mongolian, Ukrainian, Sinhala, Urdu, Arabic and Hindi.
Type of exam
- Class 1 license (excluding mopeds and small special motor vehicles)
- Provisional driver’s license
- Moped license (English, Chinese, Portuguese and Vietnamese only)
- Class 2 license
*Explanations for the theoretical and practical test will be given in Japanese.
*If you do not understand Japanese, you must be accompanied by an interpreter when registering for the exam.
