Mie Prefecture Centre for the Arts New Year Event
“Let’s play! New Year at the Centre for the Arts!” on Sunday, January 5th 2014!
When: Sunday, 5th January 2014 from 11:00 to 15:00
Where: Inside the Mie Prefecture Centre for the Arts, Gender Equality Centre FRENTE and the plaza.
Admission: Free (this is an event aimed at children)
Taiko drum, koto and bamboo flute ensemble Isetsugumi will be performing in the Multipurpose Hall! Enjoy this performance of Japanese music – perfect for New Year! – and try playing the instruments yourself. You can also enjoy the traditional games and customs of Japanese New Year together with your family, including pounded rice cakes mochi, spinning tops, origami, hanetsuki Japanese badminton, karuta and more!
There is fun for the whole family at “Let’s play! New Year at the Centre for the Arts!”, we look forward to seeing you all there!

New Years Concert: Isetsugumi
【Time】Performance starts at 13:30 (doors open at 13:00)
＊There’s also a performance at 11:00 in the plaza!
Let’s try Taiko!（Tickets on a first come, first served basis）
Try playing a Taiko drum together with the members of Isetsugumi!
【Time】14:00 to 15:00
【Tickets to participate will be issued from 14:00】
【Participants】Limited to 80 people (activity lasts approx. 5 minutes per person)
Let’s try Tea Ceremony! （Tickets on a first come, first served basis）

【Tickets to participate will be issued from:
11:00 for the AM sessions and 12:40 for the PM Sessions】
【Participants】Each session is limited to 10 participants
King of Menko! Tournament
Make your very own original Menko card and
compete to become the King or Queen of Menko!
Tournament begins at 13:00 which registration from
12:00 onwards.

＊This event is for children elementary school age and below. Children must be accompanied by parent or guardian to take part. This event may be cancelled in the case of bad weather. We ask for your understanding.
