The fireworks (hanabi) are undoubtedly the most famous highlights of summer. In several regions within Mie Prefecture fireworks festivals (hanabi taikai) will take place between July and August. Why not enjoy the fireworks with various features in the area?

Date: July 14, 2018 (Saturday) 7:15 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Dai 66-kai Ise Jingu Hounou Zenkoku Hanabi Taikai

Location: Riverbank of Miyagawa (near Watarai Bridge)

One of the “Three Great Fireworks Festivals in Japan”. The hanabi masters selected from all over the country dedicates the fireworks to Ise’s night sky, the city of Gods.

*In case the event is not held due to weather conditions such as rain, typhoon, flooding, it will be rescheduled to September 8 (Saturday). In case of bad weather conditions on this day, the event will be rescheduled to the next day (September 9 – Sunday). Dai 67-kai Tsu Hanabi Taikai 2018

Location: Akogiura seashore in Tsu

Consecutive fireworks launched from ships are one of the great attractions of this fireworks festival. Enjoying the fireworks while sitting on the beach sand and feeling the smell of the tide is one of the great summer traditions of Tsu city, it is beloved by local residents and people from neighboring cities.

Kuwana Suigou Hanabi Taikai

Location: On the bank of the Ibigawa River

The display starts by the launch of thousand of consecutive fireworks, and the ones called “suichuhanabi” and “niagara” showing all their beauty in the night sky. During the event, the size and the bang of “nishakuhanabi”, one of the largest in Tokai region, are a stunning display because it seems like raindrops are falling on people’s head.

Nabarigawa Nouryou Hanabi Taikai

Location: Nabarigawa Shinmachi Kahan

About 5,000 fireworks will be launched to send out the vigor of Nabari city. Have good Nabari summer memories and enjoy the fireworks spreading it’s sparkle and  sound throughout the night sky.

Oyodo Gion Matsuri and Hanabi Taikai

Location: Around the Oyodo Gyoko at Taki-gun Meiwa-cho

It is a traditional festival that lasted more than 260 years and is crowded with many visitors every year. On the day of the festival, a spectacular fireworks festival will be held in the evening, raising the atmosphere of the festival.

Summer Festa in Hisai

Location: Ground Self- Defense Force in Tsu city, Hisai camp

The location of fireworks launching is right in front of the bleachers and it is worthwhile to enjoy the firework’s full beauty spreading throughout the sky. The 150 meters in length Niagara River fireworks and the huge consecutive fireworks at the end are the main displays.

Kumano Hanabi Taikai 2018

Location: Shichirigahama coast

This is one of the most famous highlights of summer along Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route, where 10,000 fireworks will be launched. With Onigajo and Yoshino- Kumano National Park as a background, you can enjoy spectacular fireworks display and the largest waterfront fireworks (sanshakudama: 90 cm in diameter) .

Dai 27-kai Kameyama-shi Sekiyado Noryo Hanabi Taikai

Location: Suzukagawa riverbed (Seki Fire Station West Ground)

This festival have a spectacular 1700 fireworks and a must see with many variety of fireworks! Fireworks from the side of the river with the mountains behind are impressive! Many stores are open at the venue.

Dai 31-kai Yokkaichi Hanabi Taikai

Location: Yokkaichi-ko Fusoryokuchi

A variety of fireworks will be launched from three platform ships against the background of the complex. The Music star mine is also an amazing sight.

*There is no parking lot. Please use public transportation (train, bus etc.). (15 minutes on foot from JR Tomita station, about 25 minutes on foot from Kintetsu-Tomita station.)

Suzuka Genki Hanabi Taikai

Location: Shiroko Shinko inside Ryokuchikoen Sunahama

The opening will be a 1 scale ball (Ishakudama: 30 cm in diameter). Approximately 5,000 fireworks will color the night sky. The finale will be a waterfront fireworks.

*There are no parking lot. Please use public transportation (train, bus etc.). (10 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Shiroko Station, about 15 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Gedigaura Station)

From July 1, 2018, it will be possible for the 4th Generation Japanese Nikkei visitors to stay in Japan due to the status of residence of Specific Activities (Activities to master Japanese culture etc). If you meet the prescribed requirements, you can stay in Japan for a maximum total of 5 years.

  • Activities that 4th Generation Nikkei people can do in Japan
  1. Activities to learn Japanese and Japanese culture (essential)
  2. Working activity

  • Main requirements for application
    • Being a 4th Generation Japanese
    • Being over 18 years old and under 30 years old when entering Japan
    • Being healthy
    • Be able to understand basic Japanese (Japanese Language Proficiency Test N4 degree)
    • 4th Generation Nikkei acceptance supporters are secured
    • No criminal record
    • Travel ticket for returning home or having sufficient funds to buy a ticket
    • What you can prove from the prospects of living expenses and employment after entering the country
    • To come to Japan alone and not with family
