Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp 2016/07/19 Tuesday Culture and Leisure “Mie Prefecture more than 300 million years ago and the animals who survived to cataclysm on the planet” This summer, great dinosaurs, such as the 27 meters long Diplodocus and the Tobaryu found in the city of Toba (Mie), will be displayed at Mie Prefectural Museum (MieMu). Through samples of stones and ores launched after volcanic eruptions, visitors can learn on the history and the earth crust movements registered in Mie Prefecture. Don’t miss this opportunity to travel through the history of Mie Prefecture, exploring the giant ancient living beings in this exhibiton. About the temporary exhibition: Period: 2016, July 2 (Saturday) to September 4 (Sunday) During this period, the museum will be closed on July 4,11,19 and August 1,8,15,22, 29 Hours: From 9 a.m to 5 p.m (Saturday, Sunday and holidays until 7 p.m – last entry 30 minutes before closing) Location: Mie Prefectural Museum (MieMu) 3rd floor – Temporary Exhibition room (Tsu-shi, Isshinden Kozubeta 3060) Admission: adults ¥800, students ¥480, free for children under the age of high school (additional fee for permanent exhibition area) Exhibition content: replica of a full skeleton of the giant 27 meters long dinosaur Dipodocus, the great white shark “megalodon” jaw, that reaches up 13 meters long, the full skeleton of “Kougazo”, the greatest elephant ever found in the planet, among others fossils of giant animals, several ores from Mie Prefecture will be displayed. In the exhibition room, many interactive activities will be held, such as origami and paper craft painting under the theme dinosaur. The famous election on the most popular ancient animal will be held, the “Shitteiru? Mitemitai! Mukashi no ikimono sousenkyo”. Related event: other events will be held alongside and during the period of exhibition.
