Traffic Safety Moving During Autumn

2013/09/30 Monday Culture and Leisure, Highlights

2013年度「秋の全国交通安全運動」

As Autumn approaches and the sun sets earlier each day, there are concerns that the number of car accidents during the evening commute will rise due to decreased visibility.

In order to increase awareness of traffic safety, encourage citizens to follow the rules of the road and prevent tragic traffic accidents, Mie Prefecture will be participating in the nationwide Fall Traffic Safety Initiative.

Additionally, September 30 is “Traffic Accident Free Day,” and each region of Mie will be working to spread awareness of the following topics.

  • Preventing accidents involving children and the elderly
  • Preventing accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists at dusk and at night.(Particular focus will be given to use of reflective clothing and use of front-facing bicycle lights)
  • Proper use of seatbelts and child car seats
  • Eliminating drunk driving

Remember to wear reflective clothing when you go out at night!
