Details

An accessible art exhibition designed to let children explore art and become familiar with art galleries. We will also be holding different events for children during the exhibition. The gallery is closed on Mondays. This exhibition displays our gallery’s collection with the aim of making art and art galleries more familiar and accessible to younger visitors. The Mie Prefectural Art Gallery created the Kids’ Gallery series to introduce different approaches and different points of view towards the works in our collection. The eighth in this series will be an exhibition with the theme of “What is ‘cute’?” and will explore the secret to the ‘cuteness’ of the works on display. The adjective ‘cute’ (kawaii) is a word that is used frequently in our daily lives but what do people refer to as being cute? What was ‘cute’ originally? One aim of this exhibition is to take a new look at the ideas and opinions of the people around us through art. We also have plans o hold workshops for children while this exhibition is on.
