You will meet a magical place called MieMu – Mie Prefectural Museum. The site impresses visitors by the beauty of its modern and striking structure. Let’s get to know the main sections of MieMu. [Interview with Mrs. Nakamura – MieMu – Mie Prefectural Museum] This here is the Miezou elephant. Since the first fossil was found in Mie, it was named Miezou. In its scientific name, Stegodon Miensis, it is also included the name of Mie. It measured 4 meters high to the shoulders and 8 meters long from jawbone to the tail. It was the largest species of elephant that lived in Japan. In Miemu, it is the first time that this fossil is being exhibited in Japan. Enjoy the opportunity to see it! Hands-on Chidren’s Exhibit This is the area of hands-on children’s exhibit. In the section here behind, you can play around looking for various animals and things related to Mie’s culture. We also offer costumes like this butterfly, for you to use. Come and explore the nature of Mie having fun. Main Exhibit This is the area of main exhibit. The theme of this area is the potential of Mie diversity. Thus, Mie owns a cultural diversity and diverse natural areas. In this section, there are models that visitors can touch, and that were made with wood produced right here in Mie. Here you can experience the high mountains and deep seas of Mie. And here pictures and videos from the fascinating diversity of Mie are being presented. So, let’s go to the back side. As you go in, the first section shows how Mie looked like in the early days of Japanese archipelago. Here you can observe the exhibits of the dinosaur found in Toba, the Tobaryu, and Miezou Elephant. Going to the back side, the whole culture and natural diversity is concentrated in this room. Surrounded by nature around, there is a culture and surrounded by this culture, there is a whole history that you can explore. In this section, the Isemairi is on display, the visit to the temple Isejingu. The Isemairi became famous in the Edo period, and here a reproduction of the season is on display. In Mie there is the Isejingu temple that received many visitors from all over Japan in Edo period. Now, watch here. This is a giant model of Onshi Yashiki. The Onshi Yashiki was the dwelling of the priests who worked for the Isejingu temple, who had the function of distributing amulets through Japan or host visitors of the temple. In this model, you can observe the movement of people on the site. This model reproduces people dancing the Kagura dance, performing matsuris and eating banquets. The performances were reproduced in detail, and you can observe the joy of Edo period times. We provide multiple touch panels in the area of main exhibit. There, you can get more information and learn more about each exhibit. For example, in this section called “Geological birth of Mie”, you can learn more about each type of soil. For example, pressing here, you can see more detail about the Tobaryu dinosaur femur. You can also enlarge the image and view more details. With this portable handset, you can hear the explanations, which are provided in 5 languages. Inside the showroom, there are places with this brand, where, by approaching the handset, it will begin playing audio explanations. Special Exhibit Here is the special exhibit room. The special exhibit room changes exhibits almost monthly. This summer, we will have the Miezou Elephant exhibit. You may also see other exhibits such as historical or nature related exhibits. Within these green forests, you can capture a wide variety of insects. Come to explore the forest in search for insects. Visitors who come to Mie Prefectural Museum are impressed by the amount of exposed items and excellent structure available. This museum really worth a visit. [Interview with teacher from Escola Alegria de Saber] We were very happy to bring the kids here. It is very good for us to take them out from the school environment, take them out from the books, so, they can actually see, not touch, but they can see up close, see the whole structure here that Mie Museum offers. It’s cool because it also gives structure for foreigners, the pamphlets are in Portuguese, they provide smartphones for us to listen to the information in Portuguese, so, the students are excited about this visit to the museum, it is very cool. [Interview with 3 students from school] The part that, so far, I enjoyed most was the one we had to take off the shoes to go in, where there was a labyrinth we had passed under the water, through paths of ants, for example, I found it pretty cool. The part of the elephant was also pretty cool. The phone there is there in the labyrinth, under the water, I liked it because it speaks. I liked this part here that has many cool stuff, and the phone that we put in a place, this right here, it starts speaking about the culture. Come with your family to visit this museum and have a special day, full of knowledge and culture. Miemu offers an excellent infrastructure to cater foreign residents through pamphlets in five languages and devices that were presented in the video. Let’s visit it?
