The number of people infected with the coronavirus is increasing dramatically.  On November 23, the number of daily new infections surpassed 2,000.  The number of patients requiring hospitalization is also increasing.

If the number of infected people continues to grow, there is a possibility that they will not be able to receive medical care.  In order to avoid such a situation and protect everyone’s health, the Mie government asks for your cooperation regarding infection preventive measures.

Infection Preventive Measures Alert (Kansen Boushi Kodo Tettei Alert), in Japanese only

  1. Protect yourself from infection with the vaccine against the omicron variant
  • If you are 12 years of age or older and have not yet received your 1st and 2nd doses of vaccine, consider having them by the end of December.
  • Especially if you live with an elderly person or plan to move back to your hometown, consider getting vaccinated as soon as possible.

  1. Follow the basic infection preventive measures
  • Reinforce infection preventive measures appropriate to the situation, such as wearing a mask and disinfecting hands.
  • Ventilate (occasional ventilation even when using air conditioning), “dine with a mask(when not eating or finished eating” and have “quiet meals”.
  1. Measures to prevent the spread of covid among elderly people at high risk of becoming seriously ill
  • When meeting with elderly people, wear a mask and take complete measures to prevent infections, such as ventilation.
  • If you encounter elderly people that you don’t usually see, when returning home or in other situations, get tested (for coronavirus) beforehand.  Avoid meeting if you are feeling unwell.
  1. Preparing in case of poor physical condition
  • Have COVID antigen test kits ready (*), antipyretic analgesics, thermometer, 5-7 days of food ration, and other basic essentials.

* Please use in vitro diagnostic antibody test kits and category 1 drugs (Dai 1-rui Iryo-hin) that have received regulatory approvala.

Moderna’s vaccine against the Omicron variant BA.4/5

*The omicron vaccine is valid for people who received the first and second doses, and can be administered once per person regardless of the number of vaccinations.

Target Audience (Vaccination for third, fourth and fifth dose)

Persons over 18 years of age who received the previous dose more than 3 months ago and reside, work and/or study in Mie.

*Limited to those who have been vaccinated with any of the vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and/or Takeda (Novacs).
