On April 7, 2020, the government issued the State of Emergency Alert (Kinkyu Jitai Sengen – 緊急 事態 宣言) for 7 provinces (Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa, Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka).

Below is the content of the message made by the Governor of Mie to the citizens.

  1. Do not go to areas where the new coronavirus infection are increasing

Do not go to the 7 provinces listed above unless it is extremely necessary.  Also try to avoid visiting regions with many cases of infections, such as Hokkaido, Aichi and Kyoto.

  1. Avoid coming to Mie Prefecture if you are in regions where many cases of contagion have been confirmed

Ask family and friends from those 7 provinces above not to come to Mie.  Also ask people from those regions don’t come to Mie even for work-related reasons.

  1. Request from business and school representatives

Protect the lives and health of workers and students.  Make use of tele work and online classes.

  1. Request to do actions with caution

Wrong information is circulating on social media.  Do not believe or share information if you are not sure if it’s true.  Also, don’t panic buy goods and stay calm.

  1. Prevent the disease

Take action to avoid being infected by the virus, such as avoiding closed spaces, crowded places and close contact settings (3 C’s) and be aware of your distance between people.

If you have suspect that you are infected with the new coronavirus, contact MieCo, Consultation Center for Foreign Residents in Mie, or the Consultation Center for Travelers and Contaminants (Kikokusha Sesshokusha Soudan Center)
