Mie Prefecture will host the disaster prevention seminars for foreign residents and those interested in supporting foreigners.

It is important to deepen your knowledge about actions and countermeasures at times of disasters and to enhance the ability to protect yourself and others around you. Interpreters of various languages will be provided for this disaster prevention seminar, so let’s improve disaster prevention awareness so that foreign residents can become supporters of disaster victims.

For those who have never participated in a disaster prevention seminar until now or even those who cannot understand Japanese, please feel free to join   ※ Advance registration is necessary.

II Commemoration of Mie Prefectural Art Museum 35th Anniversary featuring Theo Jansen Exhibition

三重県立美術館 開館35周年記念Ⅱ テオ・ヤンセン展

 

Theo Jansen Exhibition, Dutch artist, deemed 21st century’s “Leonardo da Vinci”. It will be the first exhibition in Tokai and Kansai regions.

The exhibition called “Strandbeest” is being held, the work of art that moves with wind, in several regions in the planet, and the artist is well known for being the exponent of Kinetic Art. Theo Jansen continues being well ranked internationally and has already got several awards, such as the “Eco Award” in the 2009 Eco Festival, a United Nations’ project on behalf of natural environment, among others.

This exhibition, scheduled to summer vacation, in addition to feel the intensity of the real work, it will be also possible to approach the creation source and understand how the work of art was developed and how it emerged.

July 15 (Saturday) to September 18 (Monday)

from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (*admission until 4:30 p.m.)

Every Monday (except on September 18)

Admission fee

General= ¥ 1.000 / Students= ¥800 /Admission is free for students up to high school age (koukosei)

(the admission fee also includes the permanent exhibition)

Students must show the ID card

During the event’s hours, at 10 a.m. 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., one of the works of art (beests) at exhibition room will be propelled by compressor units.
