“Mie Prefecture more than 300 million years ago and the animals who survived to cataclysm on the planet”

This summer, great dinosaurs, such as the 27 meters long Diplodocus and the Tobaryu found in the city of Toba (Mie), will be displayed at Mie Prefectural Museum (MieMu). Through samples of stones and ores launched after volcanic eruptions, visitors can learn on the history and the earth crust movements registered in Mie Prefecture.  Don’t miss this opportunity to travel through the history of Mie Prefecture, exploring the giant ancient living beings in this exhibiton.

 

  1. About the temporary exhibition:
  • Period: 2016, July 2 (Saturday) to September 4 (Sunday)
    During this period, the museum will be closed on July 4,11,19 and August 1,8,15,22, 29
  • Hours: From 9 a.m to 5 p.m (Saturday, Sunday and holidays until 7 p.m – last entry 30 minutes before closing)
  • Location: Mie Prefectural Museum (MieMu) 3rd floor – Temporary Exhibition room (Tsu-shi, Isshinden Kozubeta 3060)
  • Admission: adults ¥800, students ¥480, free for children under the age of high school
    (additional fee for permanent exhibition area)
  • Exhibition content: replica of a full skeleton of the giant 27 meters long dinosaur Dipodocus, the great white shark “megalodon” jaw, that reaches up 13 meters long, the full skeleton of “Kougazo”, the greatest elephant ever found in the planet, among others fossils of giant animals, several ores from Mie Prefecture will be displayed. In the exhibition room, many interactive activities will be held, such as origami and paper craft painting under the theme dinosaur. The famous election on the most popular ancient animal will be held, the “Shitteiru? Mitemitai! Mukashi no ikimono sousenkyo”.
  1. Related event: other events will be held alongside and during the period of exhibition.
  • Removing fossils from Trilobites and from stones (August 13)
  • Searching for crystals (August 17)
  • Researching on the specimen names [Identification Council 2016] (August 21)

Become a member of foreign residents meeting of Mie Prefecture

三重県外国人住民会議の委員公募について

Being aware the foreign residents are part of the local community, experts with the responsibility to build a base, with the goal to assert the opinions of these citizens of foreign nationality within public activities, the “Foreign Residents Meeting of Mie Prefecture” will be held from this fiscal year. In order to have the opinion of foreign residents on a large scale, we are recruiting members to take part in this meeting.

Requirements

Foreign residents* in line with the requirements cited below. However, advisers from local or national public organizations or permanent public servants cannot apply.

  • Permanent address in Mie Prefecture
  • Live in Mie Prefecture for more than 1 year
  • Language ability enough to take part in the meetings held only in Japanese

*Naturalized people and family members with influence or cultural roots from other countries are included.

Duties as a member

Take part in the meetings of foreign residents and discuss on the content below. The meetings are scheduled to be held about twice a year in Tsu city (as a rule on Saturday or Sunday).

(1) Subjects related to multicultural living measures of Mie Prefecture

(2) Subjects related to the development of a multicultural society

(3) How to encourage the participation of foreign residents in the local development.

Fill out the application form* with all necessary information, by taking it in person or send it by mail or e-mail. (To take the application form in person, the interested person should go to the organization in charge. Business days, from 9 a.m to 5 p.m)
